Judex crederis esse venturus. Te ergo quaesumus, tuis famulis subveni, quos pretioso sanguine redemisti. We believe that you shall come to be our Judge. We therefore beg you, help your servants: whom you have redeemed with your precious blood.[1]
Most of you reading this page believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ, and one day he will come to judge the living and the dead. Often in Scripture the verb “to judge” means to rule, to govern. When Christ comes in glory he will come to rule the world he has been conquering steadily since his death in Calvary. If we believe the words of the Te Deum quoted above, he comes to help; to redeem the human race that otherwise would be totally lost by the consequences of sin and disobedience. Following that line of reasoning we could use the level of trouble in the world as an indicator, a sign of the proximity of both our judgment and our redemption.
It was mid September 2008 when the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States approached President George W. Bush to inform him basically that the bankruptcy of Lehman Bros. had some unforeseen consequences. Not to enter in too much detail, the central role played by Lehman Bros. in the operational funding for all the large corporations in the world was coming to an end, freezing the entire world financial system. The President was asked to work a deal to pump a trillion dollars into the financial system to avoid collapse within the next three days, carrying with it the world’s largest economies in a few weeks and triggering social and political upheaval previously unseen in the history of mankind.
So the USA forked over a massive amount of money to plug the hole – never ever giving any account of it to “we the people” – and that left us with a very unattractive balance sheet: the United States is upside down financially speaking. When we add all the nation’s assets and deduct all the liabilities the resulting number is either zero or a negative sum – depending on who does the accounting – never a positive number. The rest of the industrialized nations are not faring much better. The governments of the developed world have spent the inheritance of their children developing a welfare state that is absolutely unsupportable. On top of that since September 2008 there is a de facto welfare program for the world financial system – they get free money they don’t even have to account for – and who, you may ask, is footing the bill? Well, not the downtrodden lower classes since they are for the most part the beneficiaries of the welfare state. Not the big corporations either. They are the beneficiaries of the “quantitative easements” exacted from the politicians via “an offer they can’t refuse,” making Vito Corleone look like St Francis in comparison. The payees are the middle class citizens, their backs already bending under a heavy tax load.
While all of this is happening a major shift in the allocation of wealth is also taking place. According to the Washington Post five of the seven wealthiest counties in the US are the suburbs of Washington, DC. One does not have to be Sherlock Holmes to do the math and see that a huge pump is sucking money off the pockets of the American middle class and sending it straight into the fat wallets of politicians and financial moguls. As that reality slowly dawned in the minds of millions of Americans, the number of people resolutely voting for Donald Trump grew because it was inconceivable for them to vote – one more time – for the candidate of the welfare state and the new financial robbing barons.
No one knows what the future holds but ceteris paribus we are looking at a good two or three decades of hard sacrifices until we can put this mess behind us. I am taking into account all the resistance coming from the various Liberal persuasions. They are not going to let us have our nation back without a fight. We all know where they come from. If you read my previous articles about Cultural Marxism you will notice that those barbarians marching through our cities demanding money, perverted sex, drugs, etc. all financed by the taxpayer, are the same that were formed in the academic institutions, the schools that the Marxists have been successfully infiltrating since World War II. Those are the sons and daughters of Antonio Gramsci’s “long march through the institutions.” What they demand is not different from what the financiers of Wall Street are asking for: that the working people pay for their lifestyle without any accounting whatsoever. One class is the reflection of the other.
This situation is the result of trying to build a world without God. The Liberal Capitalist, the Socialist, the Fascist, the Communist, etc. are all proposing a godless world. The return to the natural form of market capitalism demands the re-education of large swaths of the population, the conversion of millions. It is a daunting task for anyone, more so for the Church of the 21st century presently debilitated by heresy, the vice of sodomy, and bad management. It seems to me that God has allowed the forces of chaos to prevail in such a clear manner for a reason. We have to hit bottom before we beg “help your servants: whom you have redeemed with your precious blood” because that is the only asset we can lay claim to. That blood spilled for our salvation is the only real capital we have today – we service that precious debt by declaring the Gospel. Materially we have gained the world at the cost of our soul; of all men we are the poorest because all we have is money, paper money worth nothing since we are in debt to our eyeballs.
Personally I understand this in a way that leaves my friends and family confounded. I believe there is nothing more important than declaring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. Today we have to do that against adverse forces in the Church, and in the culture but there is no way to avoid our duty and keep our soul. May God help us and help those men sent at this time to manage the nation for this is perhaps the world’s darkest hour.
