At this point in history, near the end of the year of Our Lord 2022, anyone who is paying attention knows that the Catholic Church has been infiltrated and hijacked by men who do not have the best interest of the Catholic flock at heart. There are several currents of infiltration and so far they are all in accord: their mission is to destroy the Church after ransacking her treasures and disperse her flock. Some of those currents are ancient others started before the German Reformation and yet others began during the 20th century. As time goes by these movements seem to grow in virulence.

Jesus told us about this time but only lately we have discovered the deep sense, the ultimate meaning of his warning. An old Spanish proverb said wisely: “El oro y el tonto, se separan pronto” [tr. “Gold and the fool are quickly separated”] it is very similar to the English version: “A fool and his money are soon to part.” I chose the Spanish version because it talks about gold. That metal is used in Holy Scripture as a symbol not only of riches but of human perfection, nobility of character, and then also material riches.

Take all that shall be brought upon thee: and in thy sorrow endure, and in thy humiliation keep patience. For gold and silver are tried in the fire, but acceptable men in the furnace of humiliation. (Ecclesiasticus 2:4-5)

In ancient days, when the nation of Israel abandoned the ways of God they were put through various trials such as war, exile, famine, pestilence, etc. Those trials were like a furnace in which the people of God were cleaned of the dross of infidelity. Nothing better than seeing extinction and death in the face to make men remember God. I think every person of God had that experience to some degree. Paradoxically, those experiences show in the end how God’s love saves us from darkness and chaos.

There are also external enemies doing their best to defeat God’s plans. Since God is unassailable no one can attack Him and that is why His enemies limit themselves to attack God’s people. But God always led his people out of danger. We may have to endure a surprise attack but God —by his very nature— cannot be surprised. Logically, that is the reason why we have to always trust in Him. If we trust and obey Our Shepherd  he will always be ahead of any adverse circumstance that may affect us. We have to have very present that if we do not obey God may use his enemies to shake us up thus bringing us to the straight and narrow path.

‘Very truly, I tell you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold by the gate but climbs in by another way is a thief and a bandit. The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. They will not follow a stranger, but they will run from him because they do not know the voice of strangers.’ Jesus used this figure of speech with them, but they [the disciples] did not understand what he was saying to them. (John 10:1-6)

As I see how the hijacking of the Catholic Church proceeds I get to understand these words of Jesus much better. It is obvious that they have a moral sense and also a prophetic sense. We are seeing the fulfillment of the prophecy contained here. It was veiled but now we can compare it to our present reality and understand how things connect, so to speak.

So let us put on our prophetic thinking cap and hear Jesus one more time. We have read this passage of Scripture a thousand times but we could not possibly imagine that one day we would see it happening before our very eyes. Here’s the passage:

The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and the money-changers seated at their tables. Making a whip of cords, he drove all of them out of the temple, both the sheep and the cattle. He also poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. He told those who were selling the doves, ‘Take these things out of here! Stop making my Father’s house a market-place!’ His disciples remembered that it was written, ‘Zeal for your house will consume me.’ The Jews then said to him, ‘What sign can you show us for doing this?’ Jesus answered them, ‘Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.’ (John 2:13-19)

“The Passover of the Jews was near and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.” It is the time when the people commemorate the powerful and miraculous liberation from Egyptian rule. Jesus comes to the Temple. That is no minor event. God is visiting his house and there He finds merchants using the Temple and the Doctrine of the Law as an opportunity to make mere money. This reminds me of an occasion when Jesus obliquely gives some clues as to his return:

And the Lord said, ‘Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long in helping them? I tell you, he will quickly grant justice to them. And yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?’ (Luke 18:6-8)

Yes, the Passover is a special time because it reminds the faithful about God’s fidelity. Here comes God into the Temple and —just as he promised— he quickly delivers justice by driving away those who were using the House of God as a center for unjust profit. Many of those merchants did not care about the Law and the purity of the sacrifices. They were also shrewd dealers who often took advantage of the pilgrims from the countryside that were not used to the devious ways of the city merchants.

I see here a prophetic warning for us in this time. We are nearing a special Passover as this old system of world governance is coming to an end. Many of us await the promised time of peace still ahead of us. Notice that Jesus comes ahead of that Passover, perhaps a day or two. After driving out those defiling the Temple the religious leaders ask him: “What sign can you show us for doing this?” They seem to be the same group that later asked Jesus by the shore of Lake Gennesaret:

The Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test Jesus they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. He answered them […] You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.’ Then he left them and went away. (See Matthew 16:1-4)

The signs and their interpretation

The Ninevites of Jonah’s time saw the signs and believed. (cf. Jonah 3:1-10) They also showed external signs of repentance and penance. God had mercy on them. As simple as that: the “sign of Jonah” is the Gospel which Jesus condensed in this short phrase:

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news.” (Mark 1:15)

That is in essence our situation: “the time is fulfilled” and our call to arms is to “repent and believe in the Good News!” now let’s see how to interpret those signs today.

We started saying: “the Catholic Church has been infiltrated and hijacked” and that does not mean that only the Catholic Church has been infiltrated. Other Christian groups, and associations have been infiltrated as well. The “churches” outside the Catholic communion were the first to be taken. That is the reason why those churches today resonate with so many messages taken straight from Marxist ideology.

Not only the hierarchy of the Catholic Church has been infiltrated! Many peripheral organizations were infiltrated as well. I can assure you that many “lay ministries” were even founded by Protestants leaning left who feign to be Catholics because “there is money to be made if I only can convince generous Catholics that my ministry is legitimate.” You may be astonished at this but have you ever wondered why lay ministries founded by former Protestants, former homosexuals, former communists, former abortionists, etc. tend to raise truckloads of money and do not produce any measurable fruits? Do you know that there are many of these ‘Catholic organizations’ inside and outside the hierarchy whose main occupation is to raise money?

One does not have to be a genius to realize that one of the main objectives of the hijackers of the Church is to get their hands on the bank accounts of their victims. I wish I could make a list here, you will have to make it yourself. All you need is common sense and spend some time googling information. That is how I did it.

When I realized the scheme, I decided to remove my “donations button” from the blog. I had to trust my modest blog to God and let Him provide. He did in a great manner. In a matter of days all was under control. Nothing is lacking now and that is my sign.

Pray for the Church as we go “into the wilderness” years. We will be refined and emerge better than we have ever been.

‘I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance. I know that you cannot tolerate evildoers; you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them to be false.  I also know that you are enduring patiently and bearing up for the sake of my name, and that you have not grown weary. But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember then from what you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. Yet this is to your credit: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches. To everyone who conquers, I will give permission to eat from the tree of life that is in the paradise of God.” (Revelation 2:2-7)
